Optical Illusion

This is the current project that I am working on, 'Optical Illusion'. I have incorporated what I learnt in the shape making supporting study and have focused on texture and shape, as well as the traditional Japanese kimono, within my visualisations and samples.

Heads and Dolls

For this project I began looking at personal collections and collections within museums and galleries. I was instantly drawn to the dolls and figurines in the collections section of Manchester Art Gallery. Therefore I created small dolls out of burnt matches and attached little knitted dresses to them. I dropped the dolls into a sample made up of a series of circular knitting on the Dubied machines. I also made animal heads with yarn wound around them and incorporated them into Intarsia knitted samples.
The artist Susie Freeman was of influence to this project, as many of her pieces involve items dropped into knit.

A culture clash

I created a selection of samples for a project called 'Sampler Culture Clash'. My inspiration came from my experience in Berlin as I was fascinated by the lifestyle there and how it differed from my own. Therefore I based my project around the photographs I took there. I really liked the colour palette I created and eventually want to use it for a future piece. Possibly develop into a collection?
I like the urban theme to this project which I think would work well within a fashion concept.

Berlin and a good bit of taxidermy

I visited Berlin around a year ago and fell in love with the place. I found this image in a gallery there and every time I look at it,it reminds me of my experience there.
